A 4-5 year young calico beauty!
Please read my story…
So not too long ago one of the Last Hope volunteers was at a party, and overheard another guest talking about me and my brother. We were rescued and adopted as kittens about 5 years ago. We were the Queen and King of the house. Then 3 years ago the first child was born into the family….. so we were dethroned immediately.
We were banned to a totally underground basement – and rarely had a visit or heard a sound from anyone. Then – there was a terrible flood in the basement that continued for over a year – and everything they stored down there was ruined – including any sheetrock walls etc. So they threw all the stuff out – but never redid the basement – and we continued to live there – just sitting and sleeping on top of an old couch they were storing for someone. It was dark, and moldy and cold – but we had each other.
When someone came down the stairs for any reason we were begging for attention – we love to be pet and brushed and acknowledged – that was rare and was a huge treat for us.
Well – that was all the Last Hope volunteer could bear – she approached the lady talking about her “basement cats” that She “loved so much” – and wished they could have a better life. Within 4 days we were rescued!!!! It was scary at first –
But when we were brought to the Last Hope cat center where there are windows and other cats and people coming and going ALL DAY – it was like we struck the lottery.
Within a day or two we were medically checked out, got all our vaccines and were given a clean bill of health.
I love to be pet and talked too – but I am a bit reserved. This is overwhelming to me – but I am so much happier…I just can’t imagine how happy I will be when I have my own family to love me and to love them back.
I have been told that I am beautiful and loving – yet I sit here day in and day out. Now kitten season is approaching, and everyone wants that baby kitten…so I hope I don’t continue to get passed by. Remember, with an “older” cat – what you see is what you get, our personality is established and you basically know it when you adopt us…the comforts of a home with a loving family can only bring out the best in us. I will leave pawprints on your heart forever –
Grace
