To coincide with the 17th Spay Day USA, Last Hope held a FREE TNR (Trap/Neuter/ Release) Clinic on Sunday February 27th at Dix Hills Animal Hospital. Our first 2011 Spay Neuter Day for feral cats was a great success with 77 cats and kittens spayed and neutered, as well as given shots, flea treatment, ear treatment, pain meds, penicillin and more. So many new volunteers, old volunteers and high school students gave up a Sunday to help out. We would like to thank Dr. Allison Rhein for lending us her hospital and for assisting with surgeries all day, and are also especially grateful to our many volunteer vet techs and veterinarians – Dr. Mark Caporaso, Dr. Kevin Cummins, Dr. Jennifer Saver, Dr. Deborah Lupo-Lyons, Dr. Debbie Nurenberg, Dr. Christine Bayha, Dr. Alexis Baffa - for donating their time and expertise. Team efforts like this make more individuals aware of the plight of the feral cat. Together we inch closer to controlling this community problem.
