An email came into Last Hope this week stating that a dog was picked up attempting to cross the Loop Parkway in Long Beach and though the good Samaritan, Tracy Ann tried to locate the owner, the information on the dogs tag was incorrect and out of date! The email was forwarded onto Cheryl and Letty, the dog coordinators, to alert them and see if they could help.  Tracy Ann went beyond the extra mile to rescue the lost dog, bring her to a vet to check a scrape on her paw and then reached out to us!!

It turns out that the very next day a man had stopped by the Wantagh Center looking for his dog and came back Thursday AM with flyers and you guessed it…the dog on the flyer was the very same dog that was picked up in Long Beach!! We were able to put the owner and Tracey Ann together and dog and owner were reunited. If you think this type of situation can’t happen to you, think again. Have ID on your pet and microchip!
