Thank you to the volunteers who have already signed up to participate in our “PetSmart 2011 Santa Claws” event which will run for three weekends in December.

We still need many more Santas, elves and photographers!  This event is always a lot of fun for the participants, and the shifts go by very quickly.  Here is how it works:

This year the dates will be on Saturdays and Sundays as follows:  12/3-12/4, 12/10-12/11, and 12/17-12/18 from 11am – 4 pm.   Last Hope is responsible for running this event and manning it with volunteers.

There will be two shifts that run from 10:30 – 1 PM and 1-4 PM.

For each shift, we will need one Santa (which can be a woman), preferably 2 elves (the helpers), and  one photographer.

PetSmart provides the Santa suit, but you are free to bring your own if you so wish and there will be fresh beards for each Santa to wear.

PetSmart also equips us with a point and shoot camera and the photo printers and frames for the pictures.  If you prefer your own camera, you can use that as well.  You do not have to be a professional photographer by any means.  As long as you enjoy and have some experience taking pictures, it will do.  These pictures sell for $10 each and are very popular.  Last Hope keeps $5 out of the proceeds for each picture sold.

You will see an assortment of pets coming to have their pictures taken with Santa and will be helping them to pose with Santa.  Pets that have come in the past have been predominantly dogs of all different sizes, but have also included some cats, birds, fish, and ferrets.
