Future Volunteers of Last Hope

Today while at the Wantagh Adoption Center I met three of our future volunteers – brothers, Merritt and Brendan and their friend Josie. On their own time, they held a fundraiser – they made posters, sent mailings and contacted family and friends for donations which they presented to. The donation included us toys, food and treats for the dogs in our program. Volunteering with children is a great way to help them learn about giving back. Children learn valuable skills while “on the job.” Another benefit of volunteering is children learn about the concerns of the organization and what need it fills in the community. Consequently, the children also have an opportunity to remember what they have to be thankful for. A big thank you to Merritt, Brendan and Josie!!

Young adults are the future of Last Hope and will ensure that we will be around for years to come.  While we do require anyone wishing to volunteer be 18 years or older, those that are younger can still volunteer with our program but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while performing their volunteer activities. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please download our application and either fax it back or mail it to the address on the application.
