“Hendricks”- Shihtzu/Lhasa – ADOPTED 3/24/15

“Hendricks” (age 5) is one of 2 Shihtzu/Yorkie mix brothers that we first knew as “Lewis” & “Clark” in 2011. They recently came back to Last Hope when family circumstances changed for their owner of 3+ years. “Hendricks” is the larger and older (by one year) member of the duo. He deserves a loving forever home.

Here is their history:
“Lewis” (Presley) & “Clark” (Hendricks) arrived at Last Hope when we still had our dogs at Basic Pet Care in Lindenhurst. They are full brothers from different litters one year apart. Their background story is hard to believe. Actually we featured them on the 2011 Last Hope Christmas card. “Lewis & Clark” were witness protection names, so these dogs are now on their third set of names.

In the spring of 2011 the boys were 2 neglected, shivering Shih Tzu mixes supposedly found at a store by a minister, yes, a minister, and turned into Babylon Town Shelter so “their owner” could claim them. The next day the minister’s grown daughters from another town came looking for their dogs at this shelter, found them, began crying and consequently a sad family saga was revealed. The shelter convinced the daughters that it was in the dogs’ best interest to surrender them for adoption. After a beauty make-over at the shelter, Lewis and Clark came to Last Hope where we learned how much they liked to play ball. This exercise and a loving foster home helped to relax them. Soon after both boys were adopted together.

The first photo shows “Hendricks” alone now. The next shows the brothers together now. The last one show “Hendricks” at Last Hope in 2011.
