Oh, hi there! I think you found this little story about me by clicking on my photo…yes? I’m so glad you did! First, let me say that I’m a bit embarrassed by that photo, which was taken about five minutes after my brother, Gadget, and I were taken from my Last Hope foster’s home and brought to PetSmart, where we were put into a cage. I was soooooo scared and nervous! That’s why my ears are back and I’m trying to melt into the wall. I’m not at all like that when I feel comfortable, as I do now after being in my cage for a few days. I’m a very pretty and sweet girl from New Hyde Park, and I’m very much looking forward meeting the wonderful person who will take me to my forever home. That person just might be YOU! Okay, let’s be real for a minute: I need a home, you need a cat. You want an amazing cat, I happen to be one. How so, you ask? Well, as you can see I’m strikingly handsome, as well as quite expressive. I’m an 11 month old male, tabby/white, with what I’ve heard others call “stunning” yellow eyes! I also happen to have extra toes on my feet (polydactyl) which some people think is really neat. (I do too!) I was rescued from a situation where there were too many cats in too-little space but I came out of that with a true liking of other cats. I also think dogs are quite interesting and fun to play with! I’m basically a lover of life, despite the fact that I happen to currently be living mine in a cage. I, together with my 3 siblings, were found in Mineola – in a storm drain without our mom. We were 2 weeks old. We are thankful June wasn’t rainy – or we would have drowned. But if it weren’t for a landscaper that heard us meowing and got us out of the drain – we would have starved to death. We aren’t able to tell you if we were dumped there and our mom was kept by her family – or if our mom got hurt and we wandered away and fell in the drain. But we survived. And here I am now, at Pet Supplies Plus in East Northport, waiting for my forever home. I’m a big mush, lovable, playful, fur-ball – just love to play and roll around and love to cuddle too. I am so happy I was saved and now hope to find someone who can open their heart and home to me. Hi, my name is Quinn and I was dumped two months ago in a box behind a well known restaurant in Nassau County. The owner of the restaurant took me home and nurtured me and asked one of his restaurant patrons, who is a Last Hope Volunteer, if she could help find me a home. He works so many hours and felt that he couldn’t give me the quality of life that I deserved – but he did take me in and care for me, and give me all my kitten medical needs (blood work, vaccines, neutered) and gave me as much emotional nourishment that he could give.I am a bit shy, but just brush me or pet me – and I will melt into your arms…and my purr is so loud it sounds like a motor boat!! I just met Cora a few weeks ago – and we get along so well, she body slams me – and I just embrace her and hold her tightly and now know what it is like to have a friend.I am told that my coloring is unique – grey with beige and a touch of apricot in spots….but am I unique enough for you to open your heart and home to me and make me part of your family? Minke and I were found together clinging on for our dear lives. We were hungry and scared, but thank goodness a Last Hope volunteer rescued us. For the first time in my life, I learned what love is. I am constantly told every day how amazing I am, and it’s a pretty nice change! My favorite pastime is LAP TIME! I will sit on your lap for hours and hours. I don’t know how long we were in that smelly, dirty carrier, but we were definitely starving and weak. As you probably would have guessed, my 3 little babies were cleaned up and adopted out almost immediately. Now here I am still waiting, alone for someone to take ME home! I am Hermie and I have grown up here at the cat center! I am only 2 yrs old, and I am an amazing boy, but I get overlooked because of my shyness. My foster mommy will tell you that once I am in a home, my true, mushy self will come out! I just need someone willing to give me that chance! I love other cats, and I love playing with my ball. My name is Calliope, I am 4 years old, and I have been through a lot! I was found abandoned in a parking lot with my brother. When Last Hope found me, I was extremely afraid of humans. They did not treat me very well. My brother had a much easier time learning to trust again, and is now living the life in his new home with his new mommy! Hi, I’m Micki. People tell me I’m a bit of a miracle-cat because I used to be so scared of people and so scared of the cage at the Center that I was just a bundle of nerves. Slowly but surely, though, I’ve come to trust the loving people around me and now I really love to be loved and brushed. I’ve even started to venture outside of the cage to check out the rest of the room and some of the other cats here. They tell me I’m hard-of-hearing due to genetics but you would never know there is anything different about me than any other cat, except I happen to be more handsome than most! Hi! I am Lainie, a black lab mix and in case you haven’t noticed I have 3 legs! I was born with a birth defect, and my front leg had to be amputated. But let me tell you – that doesn’t slow me down. In fact, I am faster than a lot of dogs with 4 legs! I am young, 3 years old and full of energy. My family turned me into the Huntington Shelter because they have small children and I was a bit too much for them. Therefore, if your kids are 10 or older, we would do just fine. I am sweet and loving, and giving kisses is one of my favorite things. Why don’t you come to the Last Hope Dog Center and check me out? I promise you won’t be disappointed!
