“Izzy” – Australian Cattle Dog – ADOPTED!

Izzy“Izzy” is effervescent. Hard to believe when you read her story.

This young dog was left behind at her “old Kentucky home” when her former owners moved. The landlord found her and brought her to the crowded county shelter that takes in over 4,500 animals a year. The sheer numbers are astounding, and responsible homes in that local rural area are few and far between. “Izzy” got along well with the other dogs in the shelter.

Luckily, “Izzy” was chosen for the transport to Last Hope on LI. She is an absolute doll. The Kentucky shelter described her as a Rottweiler mix but that is debatable. She’s muted black and tan but has the size (42 lbs.), stature and coat texture of an Australian Cattle Dog without the mottled color pattern or prick ears of the purebred Cattle Dog in Mel Gibson’s “Mad Max”. She’s much prettier. “Izzy” seems to have the makings of a fine family dog.
