Jim – ADOPTED!!

jim-1“Jim” is his real name. At least, we think it is because he does respond to “Jim”. This adorable Doxie’s saga is convoluted. “Jim” is the name registered with his microchip although long time residents on that particular Wyandanch block say that no person with the registered owner’s name ever lived there.

“Jim” a purebred Longhaired Dachshund was found in North Babylon along with a young scruffy female Terrier at the end of January. The dogs acted as if they knew each other. They probably did. They spent the night in the animal hospital because Babylon Shelter wasn’t open. No owner ever came for them. “Jim” was micro-chipped; the Terrier wasn’t. The Terrier was adopted from the shelter as soon as her stray hold was up.

By tracing the chip, Babylon Shelter found out that “Jim” had recently been registered to the deadend Wyandanch address, but that his chip had been implanted at Brooklyn Animal Care and Control sometime before that.

He was probably neutered there before being adopted to the mystery man.

Brooklyn listed “Jim’s” birthdate as 12/13/04 which suggests he was originally an owner surrender, and also suggests he is 9 if this birthday is true. “Jim” is a lover boy….He is now at Last Hope. Mr. Doxie gets along with other dogs and cats and LOVES people. His teeth were in terrible condition so he had dentistry, courtesy of Babylon Shelter.  Yikes- 16 teeth were extracted. But Jim is a trooper. But he still will eat either dry or wet food…and he kept his shelter cage clean.

He is active, happy and affectionate and is looking for someone who will love and cherish him for the rest of his days. He’s a treasure. That someone will be quite fortunate.
