Teddy – Shepherd Mix – ADOPTED 5/11/15

“Teddy” a real, live, teddy bear Shepherd mix who spent his life, neglected on a chain in a Virginia yard until an anonymous angel was able to liberate him. “Teddy” came to Last Hope via rescue transport. He is a love, just learning about the wonderful, great, big world. He needs someone with patience to help him relax a bit while he is taking it all in. Even a camera made him lie down submissively behind teen volunteers while he licked their hands for reassurance that the camera would not hurt him.

Here is what Teddy’s angel has to say about his rescue:
“I watched this adorable dog grow up on a muddy and filthy four foot chain and I saw to it he had dry dog food at least once a month as I would drop it off when his owner was gone. He never had clean food or water and I am sure he was never vaccinated before I was able to rescue him. I also would provide larger collars as he was damned near choked to death with a collar that was too small. He loved the few minutes I could love him whenever I was able to stop when his owner was gone and no one was at the trailer next to him. He never barked unless the deer were near and he was never aggressive to humans or other dogs in the neighborhood. I would have loved to have kept him, except the woman (his former owner) is sheer trouble to anyone. I do not believe he was beaten, just totally ignored. I provided a larger doghouse for him as the one she had was way too small and he could not get into it.
I believe he is approximately three years old and such a sweet and forgiving boy. Dogs are so forgiving and loving. They endure so much and yet keep such an attitude of gratitude. Thank-you for helping him, as she called him Cujo and he was not Cujo- she was and is. I avoid her at all costs. It is such a relief to me knowing he is safe and will be loved the way he deserves.”
