Cora – ADOPTED!

“Cora” a delightful 71 lb. Shepherd mix about 6 years old came to Last Hope from Hempstead Shelter as a Nassau SPCA seizure after surviving a horrible ordeal. Her owner went in for surgery and suffered complications, leaving Cora home alone for 9 days without food or clean water. Eventually neighbors heard her barking, and the police were called. Nassau SPCA located family members not living in the home who knew about Cora but had neglected to feed her. The SPCA gained access to the house to care for Cora everyday, and then obtained a legal surrender so she could be adopted to a much better home.

Cora loves everyone, gets along with other dogs and shows no food aggression, despite her close call with starvation. She would make an excellent family pet.
