CHATTERBOX Wants to Whisper Sweet Nothings in Your Ear Everyday from now on
This handsome longhaired fellow has a sad story to tell:
He was one of many longhaired kittens born in the yard of a woman who lives by Great South Bay.. She adamantly says the cats & kittens are hers, and refuses to spay/ neuter or vet any, even with help from the town shelter.
Another neighbor has secretly TNRed quite a few of these cats & taken over their care.
But by the time she gets them, they are far beyond the age of being tamed.
CHATTERBOX, who is no more than 4 yrs old, must have been one of the kittens taken inside by a boarder at the home of the woman who has allowed this rampant breeding to persist.
He was a friendly inside/outside cat, and blended in with the rest of the colony except for being very FRIENDLY. He talks to you; rubs up & gives kisses. It is never a problem to pick him up.
When the boarder died, CHATTERBOX was suddenly outside 24/7. We assume the landlady put him out.
The kind lady tried to get him neutered but she was refused by a TNR program because she brought him to the appointment in a carrier rather than a trap. She didn’t know.
When Last Hope heard how friendly he was, we made arrangements for him to be neutered even though he’d be in a carrier, and then he would enter our Adoption Program.
Only hitch is that CHATTERBOX has tested FIV + (feline immune deficiency) twice which is why he wasn’t scooped up in a flash.
FIV+ cats can live long healthy lives, so hopefully someone kind will be taken by his charms and chattering, and will scoop him up in a flash now that she has been on Last Hope Inc FB.
FIV is not spread by casual contact to healthy cats. The usual method of transmission is through deep bites.
The Truth about FIV below:
To meet CHATTERBOX by appointment at Last Hope in Wantagh, please complete and submit a cat adoption application found on the Last Hope website homepage.
I've found my forever home! Thank you!
