“Autumn” now at Last Hope was a recent stray at Babylon Town Shelter. She’s a young, adorable Retriever with Basset-style legs picked up in N. Amityville.
However, one front leg sticks out at a 45 degree angle. (She can still run.)Together Babylon Shelter and Last Hope are determining whether the deformed leg is from an old injury that healed on its own or if the leg is a congenital defect. Stay tuned….
Update: X-rays show that Autumn did suffer an injury to the growth in her leg (either a fracture or a compression injury) that healed the crooked way on its own. But the expert opinion is that she has a good range of motion in her paw, is not in pain and ambulates well. No surgery is needed to straighten the leg…Therefore, she has a unique trademark gait.
Meanwhile “Autumn”, about a year and a half old, a real love bug, and a belly rub pup around 44 pounds (full grown), needs a loving home.
I've found my forever home! Thank you!
