Champ – ADOPTED!

“Champ’s” story should go HOLLYWOOD. But right now he’d be so content just to go to a loving HOME. This handsome Black & Tan Coonhound, about 2 years old and 58 pounds, is most likely the survivor of a bear attack in Virginia. Yes, bear attack! Here is what Last Hope’s rescue liaison at his Virginia shelter had to say about Champ’s ordeal:

“We don’t have any pictures to show of the actual bear . The people spotted a bear leaving a farm and then spotted Champ laying there. I guess it would have to be a big coincidence if something else got him, maybe it would help his future adopters to see his original pictures after he was rushed to the vet and sewn up… Here are pictures from both sides after Animal Control rushed him to the vet. You can see the size of the original wounds & gouges.

He had marks all over his sides, unlike another dog or animal would leave.

This happened the beginning of April – he has healed, you can see the scars or nail marks…these pictures AFTER the vet stitched him up . Poor sweet boy – we named him Champ but it looks like he lost.”

Well, it is true that “Champ” may have just “bearly” survived.

He did lose the scuffle; but, because he was found in time, he did win the chance to come to Last Hope on a transport where he will be assured a much safer and better life.
