“Chanel” could be the poster pup for the adage- “Beauty is more than skin deep”. She’d never win a dog show…She’s overweight in that Miss Piggy sort of way. Her ears look like they were cropped with hedge clippers; her eyes have tear stains; her skin is irritated and scraped; her face looks washed out; her mouth is a bit off kilter, making for a perpetual crooked smile.

Chanel was found as an emaciated stray in Wyandanch back in January. With lots of TLC, she went from 39 to 64 pounds at Babylon Town Shelter over the next 4 months. She appreciated all that was done for her.

Despite neglect and harsh treatment from humans, her beauty shines from within.

Chanel is a wiggly, happy soul who loves everyone. She makes friends wherever she goes. She likes other dogs, and seems to ignore cats. She may be a bit too exuberant for a small canine companion.

Now at Last Hope, Chanel will get lots of attention from our volunteers. With many walks and some weight watching, she could even drop a few pounds. But more important, she will be waiting for her special person or people to discover her inner glow and take her home as their special beauty queen.
