“Dusty” is a male Shepherd/Collie mix from Amherst Humane in Virginia who remains loving and trusting around people despite a harsh life. Here is what a vounteer at the VA shelter has to say about Dusty:

“I love Dusty, everyone loves Dusty. He has all the features of a Collie but the colorings more of a Shepherd. When I took him to the vet he couldn’t have been more well-behaved. He gets a little nervous on car rides so he may have never been taken to parks or anything, he seems unsettled in the car but he did not get car sick. Sometimes he didn’t care for the younger dogs jumping on him and at other times he wanted to play with the youngsters..go figure.

He came in with a bullet wound and Animal Control took him to the vet. It’s been so long that the area is healed and I can’t even remember where the gun shot wound was…so obviously he was lost or abandoned and someone decided to shoot at him to keep him off their property?? No one will ever know.. he’s perfect, I would keep him in a heart beat because he’s so social and loves people . The dog walker volunteers are happy for Dusty – since there is no local interest they feel like a set of “fresh eyes” will be Dusty’s ticket out to a great new home. He’s a bit of a “worry wart”. I think he is just wondering why so many dogs have come and go and he doesn’t have a home yet.”
