Emma is an older, sweetheart Shepherd mix who wound up at Brookhaven Town Shelter as a stray among over 200 other dogs waiting anxiously for homes. She is at least 8 years old; maybe older. Her graying muzzle made her a bit less appealing to the passing adopters because so many folks are looking for “young” or “puppy”.

The shelter put out a plea for 40 foster homes for they were about to renovate one of the kennels.  There was a good chance that Emma would not be chosen because of her graying muzzle. Last Hope’s president went to meet Emma…she could see her sparkling eyes beyond the graying muzzle.  She could see her sparkling spirit beyond the gray muzzle. And now Emma is at Last Hope and hoping that someone nice will be able to see beyond that graying facade too, and will fall in love with the wonderful dog she is.
