“Ernie”, a comical-looking Basset mix about a year old, took a long time to get to us. He was scheduled to come to Last Hope from a North Carolina shelter months ago, and then got very ill. A youngster in an overcrowded kennel environment, especially in a poor area, is more susceptible to disease. Ernie contracted parvo while down South, and Last Hope provided for his medical care while he was still there. Finally fully-recovered, Ernie was able to make the long transport to Long Island. Resembling a monochromatic Basset or a “Doxie on steroids”, Ernie is adorable and happy, but he’d be even happier in a home of his own.
I've found my forever home! Thank you!
