How many adoption strikes can a dog have against her until her streak of luck changes and she hits a HOME-run?

#1) “Gretel” is a Pit mix…as are thousands of homeless dogs like her.
#2) She spent 13 months at Brookhaven Town Shelter where there are at least 200 Pits just like her.
#3) She’s a black Pit mix …the color that blends into the background and is noticed the least.
#4)She’s had multiple litters so her figure is not perfect.
#5)She has scars on her face which show up more on black, short-coated dogs like her.
#6)She had a slightly malignant mammary mass removed a year ago when spayed at the shelter. There were wide surgical margins and a good prognosis but still not a “selling point”.

YET, out of the masses at Brookhaven Shelter, “Gretel’s” sweet temperament dazzled us, and she is now at Last Hope where our smaller dog population and 250+ volunteers will shine the adoption spotlight on “Gretel” everyday, inching her closer to that “find me a forever home” HOME-run.
