“Jodi” comes to Last Hope from a Virginia Shelter. She’s a purebred Redbone Coonhound, 61 lbs. and about 4-5 years old. “Jodi” is quite sweet, but a bit frightened from the transport ordeal. Coonhounds, Beagles and all Hounds are often abandoned, starved or shot if they don’t pass muster as hunting or breeding dogs. Gorgeous shelter Coonhounds have little chance of finding a nurturing home at their local shelters.

Another Last Hope Redbone Coonhound, an amputee from KY has become a therapy dog in a nursing home. He is proof that Coonhounds can like “Jodi” can find their pup potential on Long Island.
