Tabby Kitten POE is a Poet.
He was inspired by his famous namesake to write of his loneliness & isolation, being by himself without a Home. POE took POEtic license & changed 1 word in EAP’s famous poem ALONE below. Can you find that word?
POE is 5 months old & was part of a litter of 4 timid tabby boys Last Hope took from Town of Hempstead Shelter in July.
POE injured his paw & needed to be separated from his brothers for medical attention. He stays alone while healing & beyond.
As a touch of dramatic irony, this tabby POE doesn’t realize that isolating him from his timid brothers has forced him to become much more outgoing & social. And this isolation has greatly enhanced his Adoptability.
To meet POE at Last Hope in Wantagh, you may visit today SUNDAY from noon to 5 without an appointment.
Weekdays please complete and submit a cat adoption application found on the Last Hope website homepage.. But first read & feel tabby POE’s borrowed poem.
ALONE
From kittenhood’s hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my kittenhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
Edgar Allen Poe
I've found my forever home! Thank you!
