Hi – I am Rebecca– A 4-5 year young beautiful mushy lovable Queen! With my coloring – I am called a torti…Please read my story…
In early 2011 – my family was moving and didn’t want to take any of their pets with them – so they dropped their dog and cat off at the Town Shelter – I was the cat. The Town told them they were overcrowded and we may have to be euthanized – but I guess they were willing to take their chances. So not only did I lose my family but my bud – the dog – as he had to go in his own cage in the dog section of the shelter.
Last Hope frequents several of the shelters and rescues cats that are going to be euthanized. They pull as many as they have space for – and pull the ones that are considered “adoptable” – in other words – can be handled. It is amazing how many “housecats” that had a family for years are just dumped there – they lost everything – including their name – as the shelters do not keep the original name – and a number is assigned to the cat.
So, after spending maybe 6 months at the Shelter in a cage by myself with no toys and infrequent petting – Last Hope rescued me from there and brought me into their program. I made it difficult for them to pass me up – I LOVE LOVE LOVE BEING PET AND TOUCHED AND COMBED – I AM SUCH A MUSHY LOVABLE GIRL. I CAN BE HELD – BUT THAT ISN’T MY TOTAL FAVORITE THING – I WOULD LOVE TO SIT AND CUDDLE UP NEXT TO MY NEW FAMILY AND JUST BE PART OF ALL THE ACTION. I AM VERY MELLOW. I am as soft as a bunny – you just really have to pet me and feel me – I can’t get enough hands on attention.
I have had all my medical needs met – I have been tested, wormed, vaccinated and spayed. I have a clean bill of health.
Some people have commented that on occasion I have a slight tremor on my back. Being in a cage decreases our muscle tone – so when I purr or am just relaxing, any muscle movement is more pronounced. This is not uncommon – and for some reason it seems more noticeable on occasion with me. It does not hurt me, and may decrease considerably once I am walking around again and building muscle in my body.
I do get along with other cats – I was in the free roaming room at Last Hope’s cat center – and I had no issues – but frequently I did retreat to my cage on my own and just sleep there – just to get away from all the other cats rough play. The door was never shut – it was just my own place.
I have been told that I am beautiful and loving – yet I sit here day in and day out. Now kitten season is here, and everyone wants that baby kitten…so I hope I don’t continue to get passed by. Remember, with an “older” cat – what you see is what you get, our personality is established and you basically know it when you adopt us…the comforts of a home with a loving family can only bring out the best in us. I would love a calm loving home with so much love to give and also receive from me.
Can you make my dreams come true????
Rebecca
