Santa comes early for one family…

A letter from Spanky’s family – formerly known as Korey…

Joanne,
First, I apologize for not writing sooner.  Seems Christmas is approaching too fast – guess we spent more time visiting animal shelters than we thought BUT the time was not wasted one bit!  Somehow, things will get done (I hope) if not, oh well.
We want to thank you and Last Hope for bringing Korey (now named Spanky from Our Gang)  Yesterday, he started responding to his new name.
Last Friday, we had an appointment with our vet…..the staff fell in love with him and he was a very good patient.
Spanky seems to be adjusting very well – he’s so “loveable”.  So far, he has the freedom of our kitchen, living room and dining room AND, down by Grandma.  Every once in awhile, he will lift his leg, once the newness wears off, the entire house is his.  We have to get used to having a small dog around, he’s so cute.
He finally barked the other day.  Sitting, waiting for his supper, noticed himself in the reflection of the dishwasher, began to growl, then barked, it was funny.  When my Mom’s “cuckoo-cuckoo” clock sounds, he goes running toward it looking up and barks and waits.  Guess he cannot figure out, why, at times it only makes one sound, then other times, it cuckoo-cuckoo’s longer on the hour.  He barks, then sits down and waits for more but the cuckoo-cuckoo doesn’t show.
This morning, he went down by Grandma all by himself.  It’s so cute, he runs over, kisses her, she hugs him and the both of them are playing.  It sure is good company for my Mom, Lord willing, turns “91” this February.  Today, we went to the pet store and picked up a few toys and things for him from Santa and for a few of his four legged cousins.
To be on the safe side, we didn’t put up our village, just in case Santa would bring us a furry friend to love, and, sure enough, he delivered one early!
Joanne, can you please give me Beth’s e-mail so I can drop her a line.
Once again, “thanks so much” and keep up the good work!
Bernice & Larry
