LANCE, a male Redbone Coonhound Needs a Foster-to-Adopt Home

LANCE Needs a Foster-to-Adopt Home.
He is a social butterfly who loves people & other dogs. He flits between new people because he adores everyone. He leans against you & tries to fit on your lap.
However, LANCE has heartworm & is in the middle of his treatment. This purebred Redbone Coonhound was diagnosed with heartworm in July when he was still at a crowded Kentucky shelter. We literally became his last hope, because poor, rural areas cannot afford to hold onto heartworm positive dogs & pay for the treatment. He is only 3 years old but tests showed his heart was enlarged.
LANCE has been staying at our vet since July for his heartworm pre-treatment & first immiticide injection. And to be built up because he was emaciated when he first came to NY. He had a fan club at the animal hospital.
He is scheduled for the second part of his heartworm treatment in mid October .
LANCE is ready for a Foster-to-Adopt Home, At the present time the social butterfly is supposed to stay low key.
There is a danger of a pulmonary embolism when adult heartworm are disintegrating, so exercise is restricted for several weeks after injections.
Last Hope covers all LANCE’s veterinary expenses until he tests heartworm-free & can be neutered.
Redbones are an affectionate breed. If you love Hounds, and love mushy dogs, LANCE is your boy.
To meet LANCE by appointment at Last Hope in Wantagh, please complete and submit a dog adoption application found on the Last Hope website homepage.
