Synchronized Low Cost Public Clinics- Last Hope OLYMPIC Event on Sun 3/8.
Last Hope championed a “first” with 2 surgical vans in our Wantagh parking lot performing TNR spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinating, and ear-tipping trapped 70 feral cats at the same time. Fee to public $20 per cat, Last Hope paid the rest between $80-$90 per cat.
And the gold medals go to Linda, Last Hope prez, and Doreen, cat coordinator for their brainstorm idea to be proactive before kitten season bursts on LI, to Maria for booking 105 feral reserved spots, to 2 separate Team TNRs for doing intake, paperwork,
delivery to separate vans, recovery (half working inside Last Hope; half inside Bideawee), clean up- an all day effort.
Many thanks to hard-working veterinarians -Dr. D. Lupo-Lyons operating on 35 cats in the Fixing Felines van & Dr. M. Singh doing surgeries on 35 cats in his privately owned Town of Hempstead van, and to their vet techs.
Last Hope booked 105 cats in hope 75% would cooperate & walk into humane traps.
We were close but didn’t reach our goal. The weather was in favor, but we all know cats do what they want to do when they want to do so.
Cats, tame & feral, disregard percentages under 100% because cats know they embody “purrfection”.
Hard to argue with that feline fact!
