This recently in from Anna & Tommy Dee who adopted sweet Harriet and gave her all the love she deserved…
Rest in Peace, Dear Harriet,
When my friend Laura started volunteering at Last Hope, we decided to visit her and bring supplies for the animals. We did not intend to adopt a pet. However, Laura introduced us to all the cats and one of them was an adult cat named Harriet. Harriet tugged at our hearts because she was so depressed. She was lying in her litter box and would not make eye contact with us. We decided that she needed to snap out of her depression and we were the ones that were going to do that for her.
We adopted Harriet and welcomed her warmly into her forever home on June 17, 2011. After two days of hiding under a bed, Harriet came out of her shell, ditched her depression and took charge of her new home. This 10-pound orange and white fur ball filled our home with love. She was the sweetest, most affectionate kitty who asked for nothing in return. She always wanted to be where we were and she would follow us all over the house. Every night around 3AM, she would wake us with a meow and give us toy mice as gifts. Her favorite place to nap was one of five kitty beds that were strategically placed all over the house for her comfort.
Less than a year after Harriet was adopted, she was diagnosed with cancer and passed away on August 14, 2012. We are devastated. We hope she is at peace now and without pain or discomfort, but we are left behind with broken hearts. Oh Harriet, our home is just not the same without you. We miss your sweet personality and soft, warm body lying against us on the couch. Take good care of yourself and be safe in kitty Heaven, Miss Harriet. We will never be able to replace the huge hole you left in our hearts. xoxo
