LUCINDA-female Aussie mix-Has a Foster-to-Adopt Home

LUCINDA wants her Texas Cinderella Story to conclude like a Fairy Tale.
She is the mother of LILLY an injured puppy who came to Last Hope from the same dangerous section of Dallas several weeks ago.
We promised we’d take her Mom LUCINDA on the next Texas transport. She arrived at Last Hope yesterday on a small transport with 1 dog for Kent Shelter. LUCINDA is heartworm + so she will need a Foster-to -Adopt home while she undergoes immiticide shot protocol and recovery. Last Hope pays for everything during her heartworm treatment.
Here Goes:
“LUCINDA is an Aussie the Society For Companion Animals captured in a dog trap on June 9, 2023 in a bad section of Dallas.
She is still very young, approximately 20 – 24 months old, weighs ~68lbs and is spayed now.
SFCA had been feeding her and trying to capture her for months. A few weeks before we caught her, we managed to capture her puppy LILLY, who also ended up at Last Hope.
Even though LUCINDA was starving, it took her nearly an hour to work up the courage to walk into the dog trap for the chicken we used for bait.
She actually left at one point , and fortunately our helper was able to call her back.
She was filthy, starved and full of fleas and smelled terrible from lying in the muddy creek.
Whatever her history, she ended up on the street.
It is obvious that she had been in a home at one point since she is comfortable inside and is fully house- broken.
When we trapped her, she had a rope tied around her neck that she chewed through to escape.
Fortunately, the rope wasn’t constricting her neck and there were no sores, although there may be a permanent groove in her fur,”
Last Hope volunteers are impressed with LUCINDA despite the suffering & deprivation she experienced.
