Rocky

Rocky

Rest in Peace, dear “Rocky”.
You left us so suddenly; many at Last Hope who adored you did not get to say good-bye.There are very sad times in animal rescue to which we have no answers.
Suddenly over the last weekend in January 2015, “Rocky” developed breathing problems and was lethargic. Sunday, we took him to West Hills Animal Hospital where the examining vet felt that an x-ray showed he had a huge, cancerous mass on his lungs plus two other tumors on his body. It was decided that Rocky should be euthanized to avoid further pain and discomfort. He will be sorely as we all loved him for what he was a good- looking, huggable teddy bear of a dog who had his preferences and just wanted to be held and petted. Thank you to all who gave him that.
“Rocky” had a beloved owner who passed away who had adopted “Rocky” from Hempstead Town Animal Shelter years ago when he was young, and cherished him for years. Then, once in our Adoption Center, he was beloved to 2 lovely families via Last Hope who also adored our Chow boy but circumstances beyond anyone’s control didn’t allow these homes to “stick”. Finally “Rocky” had hundreds of dear volunteer friends at Last Hope who tried to make his prolonged stay with us feel like “Home, Sweet Home.” How many dogs could say they have such a large, extended family? For those who loved “Rocky”, please take comfort knowing YOU were part of his extended family.
